Meet Samantha 1904 – Chapter 4

The Protestant work ethic might better be described as “never enough” or the endless quest for more. How very far this philosophy is from that of the happy and contented shepherd boy who sang “The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want.”

Having with the most toys, amassing the most land, prestige and power over others is this really “the American dream.” It was Columbus’s dream, the conquistadors dream, and that of so many who unsettled this nation. Someone has said most history is written to justify the greed and misdeeds of the rich.

One definition that I think most appropriate for the word rich is enough. It is the reason many millionaires and even billionaires do not consider themselves rich for their pile no matter how big it grows never seems to be enough. But then whatever your addiction, be it alcohol, tobacco, drugs, money or power, it is never enough.

Heaven is to many is just the thought of having attained everything their heart desires. Jesus said the kingdom of heaven is within you. How very sad indeed if all we think lies within us is an ever growing growing black whole and the hunger for more.

Go within and discover the true wealth, the true riches, that which can truly satisfy the soul and can change that hole to whole. “I am holy, I am whole.”
