1854 Meet Kirsten – Chapter 4
Are we the captains of our fate, the authors of our own destiny? Though often we appear to be captive and not captains and merely actors playing roles that others seem to have written for us, I believe that we are at least co-creators and co-authors of this play that we call our lives.
Granted the first few scene we seem like Kirsten to be following the direction of parents and others who hold us to our mark and have us parroting lines that we have rehearsed since birth, yet there comes a time for most of us when we begin to see avenues and other opportunities to go off script and take our story in new directions.
Such was the case for Kirsten and her family who left their country and came to America to begin new lives. At this time of year especially we tend to think of our favorite family traditions. I suggest that instead of doing that exclusively that we also think of starting at least one new family tradition. Instead of Christmas songs and Hallmark Christmas movies only how about we change the mood and the back ground music a bit and consider a road trip in our minds to exotic places, perhaps to some tropical island where it never snows. Just a thought, far be it from me dictate anyone else’s holiday or life plans.
Happy holidays, Dear Readers.
