A Wrinkle In Time – Chapter 1
I have long been a fan of the idea of time travel. I was about ten years old when I first saw The Time Machine movie made from the book by H.G. Wells. My daughter Emily introduced me to this book by Madeline L’Engle, the first in her famous series of time travel books.
Emily has been gone eleven years and almost four months. A year or so before she ended this particular adventure in space and time she told me that I had to make it to my eighty-third birthday if for no other reason that the date would be 11.22.33.
I read yesterday that the life expectancy for males in this country is now 73.2 years. Since in one week I will be 73 that was a bit sobering. Seventy-three was how old my father was when he passed. Whether I make it to 11.22.33 or not remains to be seen. I miss my Emily so much. She used to call me on every birthday and sing happy birthday to me. There’s a new little girl in my life, my granddaughter Emma Grace White. I have been for several months reposting my David Reads Children’s Books audios on this blog. Someday I hope she hears them and that like her great auntie Em I hope that Emma loves to read and finds out that books are a great way to travel through time and space.

Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
