Charlotte’s Web – Chapter 19

Today Charlotte reveals her Magnum Opus, Great Work, and proudly announces that her egg sack contains five hundred and fourteen eggs that will hatch in the spring. Charlotte is spent and will not live to see them. Her two great missions successfully completed, securing he friend Wilbur’s future and that of her babies, her time is almost up.

The passing crowd, unaware of Charlotte or her egg sack, marvel at the word “Humble” over Wilber and all have praise and kind words for him. Though Uncle, the big pig in the next stall will win the Blue Ribbon, the public address system blares a request for the owner of Zuckerman’s Famous Pig to come with his pig to the judges booth to receive a special award.

Wilbur, once destined to be the main attraction at Zuckerman’s table, is now destined to be a longer lasting attraction. But there is more to the story.
