Charlotte’s Web – Chapter 17
Today we meet Wilbur’s primary competition in the prize pig contest at the county fair, a much larger pig called Uncle. Charlotte is weak, tired, and swollen and Wilbur is having a bit of trouble remembering to follow the second part of Charlotte’s sound advice, “Never hurry and never worry.”
Things always seem to go smoother and seem to work out better if we can follow both of those key instructions dealing with whatever comes our way in life. We tend to make our most terrible mistakes when we hurry and worrying is perhaps the biggest mistake of all for the only things it ever adds to any situation is more stress and strain, headaches and pain.
Templeton and the children have the right idea of how to spend their first afternoon at the fair – they take a nap. Tomorrow is the judging and Charlotte has a busy evening ahead of her proving to the judges and everyone that Wilbur is indeed “Some Pig, Terrific, Radiant”, and so much more.
