Charlotte’s Web – Chapter 16

Today’s chapter is about getting Wilbur ready to go to the county fair. After a buttermilk bath and instructions to resist being put into the crate so that Mister Zuckerman will not think there’s something wrong with Wilbur, he joins Templeton and Charlotte already hidden the crate painted green and labeled “Zuckerman’s Famous Pig.”

Charlotte has decided that Wilbur might need her help at the fair and that she might need Templeton to run errands for her. After some convincing by the old sheep about all the dropped food available for a rat to enjoy at night after the lights go out at the fair Templeton finally agrees to go.

Charlotte’s plan to save Wilbur from being turned into ham and bacon will need a few final touches at the fair. She loves her friend Wilbur and is determined to see her plan through to the end.
