Charlotte’s Web – Chapter 6
Today’s adventure in the Zuckerman barnyard is about spring and summer with a special emphasis on the arrival of Mrs. Goose’s seven goslings. After keeping her eight eggs warm for four weeks they finally hatch all but one. It is a dud. Templeton the rat asks for it to add to his collection of odd things.
Nobody trusts Templeton and there is a long list gof reasons given why, but even Templeton has an important part to play in Wilbur and Charlotte’s story as in unfolds in the coming chapters.
There is joy in the barnyard at the arrival of the seven new goslings. Even farmer Zuckerman smiles as he sees them waddling behind their mother through the courtyard. “Oh, my” he says and counts them off aloud.
New life should always bring joy to the world. I am thinking of a special little goose or should I say gosling that arrived just a little over two months ago. Emma came a month early, but has already doubled her birthday weight. She is a joy to behold.

Your friend and fellow traveler,
And Emma’s grandpa,
David White
