The Wonderful Wizard of Oz – Chapter 7

Today’s story is further evidence that the Tin Man did indeed have a heart and the Scarecrow a brain. After being rescued from certain death by a timely whack of the Tin Man’s axe the Queen of the Mice asks if there is anything that she and her people could do to repay this kindness. And the Scarecrow comes up with a plan to rescue the Cowardly Lion still trapped inside the sleep inducing poppy field.

After summoning her multitude of tiny subjects, each with a piece of string and together with the Scarecrow and Tin Woodsman pulling the Lion to safety, the Queen presents the travelers with a whistle and promises to come to their aid again if summoned.

It is good to have friends especially when traveling in a strange and unfamiliar country.
