Trick or Treat!

There are a little over two months to go till Halloween. This annual sweet feast is a favorite of children young and old. Some have tried to stop others from observing Halloween because of its witches and goblins. One man for awhile was even called the man who killed Halloween because he murdered his own child with poised candy and tried to say someone else had handed it out. That man was tried, convicted, and lethal injected for his crime. Texans do not take kindly to killers especially child murders.

The Candyman or Man Who Killed Halloween did cast a dark cloud over Halloween. But he did not kill it but he did kill his eight year old son in 1974 for the 100,000 insurance money. He also poisoned the candy of his two other children to try to cover up his crime, but fortunately they did not eat the tainted candy.

Some believe that greed will be what finally destroys us all, not an asteroid or atomic bombs. Greed has certainly been behind some of the greatest crimes against humanity. I like to believe there is hope for us yet. And while some religious folks see evil in celebrating Halloween, I see something positive in little children (and many adults) dressing up like witches, ghosts, skeletons, cowboys, and Barbies. I am sure Barbie and Ken costumes will be popular this Halloween.

Hopefully the temperatures will cool by Halloween and the kids candy will not melt before they get home with it and there will be far more treats than tricks.
