Guess How Much I Love You

Our loved ones should not have to guess how much we love love them. It should be evident by how we treat them how very much they are loved. Many of us were raised by one or more emotionally unavailable parents and so we learn to read between the lines and vow that our children will never have too. Still the child’s reply to the old saw, “Do as I say, not as I do.” is more often than not, “What you do speaks so loud that I cannot hear what you say.”

Our parents behavior, loving or not, is our default mode unless we over-write those childhood experiences with more positive role models. I am thinking of the What Would Jesus Do? approach to over-riding our normal default mode behaviors. And if that is a problem for anyone perhaps What Would My Higher Best Self Do? is a more appropriate question to ask ourselves.

The Bible and Hallmark greeting cards agree – When you care enough, you send and do your best. Do not make those you love have to guess. Go within and tap into that highest and best version of yourself and love like there is no tomorrow, living and loving for today.
