The Very Hungry Caterpillar
The caterpillar stage of a butterfly’s life is a voracious one as they consume many times their weight in green leaves, encase themselves a cocoon, and await their awakening with wings. Like the angel Clarence in It’s A Wonderful Life they earn those wings.
Next time you see a beautiful butler fly flutter by remember all that little caterpillar had to consume to make that brief and beautiful butterfly life possible. One writer has proposed that in the next life we shall have a new body, we know not what form we shall take, but that we will be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. All those masculine pronouns are used solely because the Bible was written in patriarchal times by men for men. Women know from personal experience about new bodies and transforming butterflies.
I believe these caterpillar adventures prepare us for butterfly adventures to come, so eat up, and prepare for the next stage.
