My Friends

I hope to live long enough to lavish my new granddaughter Emma Grace with gifts and treasure, yet one of life’s greatest gifts and treasures is found in friends. I hope Emma has many dear and lifelong friends.

I intend to keep my sage advice short and succinct like a little boy, Michael Gillian, did when he heard his grandma complaining that it was hard for her to make friends, “Making fiends is easy, all you have to do is act friendly.” Reminds me of the Bible quote, “Out of the mouths of babes come wisdom.”

I expect baby Grace has far more to teach me than I have to teach her, therefore I plan to use most of the precious time I hope to have with her just listening. You see even a big talker like me has learned that the best way to learn and to be a good friend is to listen. The shape we most recognize as a heart is really just two listening ears put together.
