The Three Little Pigs
In the David Reads Children’s Books recordings that I have been sharing for the second time on this daily blog some of the more familiar stories are repeated several times. That is because they are in books that are themselves collections of familiar fairytales and children’s stories.
Disney was wise enough to include many of these same stories in his animated movies and shorts. The chorus of Whose Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf? is ringing in my ears as I consider today’s Two-Minute Fairytale.
The answer to the question is: Certainly not those who have adequately prepared for the Big Bad Wolf’s arrival. The first two little pig brothers short-cutted their preparation and used substandard materials, but the third brother did not, but took care to build soundly and solidly.
The well-built brick house of the third little pig where is his two brothers also took refuge after their houses collapsed was still standing after all the Big Bad Wolf’s attempts to blow it down. And when he tried to sneak down the chimney he was met my a scalding hot caldron of boiling water. The third little pig embodies the Boy Scout motto – Be Prepared. He certainly was and therefore was brave in the face of danger.
