Greed, Number 3

Greedy people are often tricked by their own greed. I recall a movie that I saw as a young man called The Flim Flam Man in which the con-man tell his young partner in crime, “We only cheat the cheaters.” Most of us receive texts and emails daily where someone thinks they have come up with a new scam, scheme or idea that they hope will separate us from our money. Most of these scams involve us investing a little to make a lot. Older people are often targeted because the con-man hopes older people may be mentally slipping a bit and that they will be caught with their guard down.

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. It pays to be skeptical of those who would help us with our money and to always ask the question, “What is in it for them?” Even skilled liars and con-men always have a “tell” that gives away their intentions. Greed like Jealousy and the other five deadly sins present as insatiable addictions always do with that hungry unsatisfied look that shouts, “Never Enough.”

Be cautious and be careful in the sense of being mindful.
