Rip Van Winkle Again

This shorter version of the classic tale loses nothing of its charm nor its moral or practical lesson. There is an expression that describes how many of us spend most of our lives, “Asleep at the switch.” It means totally out of touch and obviously to the reality around us.

The Bible injunction is:

I would clarify by changing the preposition from “on” to “in” and remind everyone that Christ is not the last name of Jesus Of Nazareth but a title that belongs to every child of the Universe whatever town they may hail from. Christ means “annointed.” And for those silly few like the House of Windsor who would have us believe that priests and kings are the chosen or special ones I remind that we are all of us everyone “priests and kings” and that more inspired words were never penned than these “all men (women, girls and boys including those who prefer a non-binary designation) are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, among which are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

God as James wrote is not a respecter of persons. He/She has no “favorites.” That is my biggest problem with all religions that believe and teach that they alone are the “chosen ones” everyone else be damned. As a boy I used to hear about an ole time religion that “makes me love everybody.” I have since tried to measure religions by that guideline.
