“You Can’t Please Everyone So You’ve Got To Please Yourself”

Today’s One-Minute Bedtime Story and Rick Nelson’s four-minute nine seconds song recorded in 1972 both come to the same conclusion i.e. that it is impossible to please everyone so you might just as well please yourself.

Both the donkey-dad-son trio and Rick Nelson learned the hard way, sadly that is how most of us learn, that trying to please others is like Lincoln’s famous quote about fooling people : “You can fool some of the people some of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.”

Don’t fool yourself. Be true to yourself. Happiness and success in life does not require us to walk on egg shells trying to fool or to please everyone. Your mission if you decide to accept it is not an impossible mission: figure out what you want and go for it. Someone will always say, “That’s not the way to do it!” But, follow that still small voice within that will guide you true saying, “This is the way, walk in it.”
