The Bedtime Rhyme

Today’s children’s book was a fun read for me. I have long been a rhyming poet myself and so I appreciate all the wonderful rhymes in this long poem for a beloved baby. All babies are beloved by the the Universe, God, or whatever name we choose to call the higher power in our lives. Time was even politicians kissed babies to prove that they deserved our vote.

These days and for some years politics has been all about hating the other team and painting them as monsters. Such political campaigns like wars are never truly won. Many of us wish both sides would focus more on kissing babies that sharpening their words like swords.

We would all sleep better at night if there was a lot less monster talk.
