Tiny Tailors
One of the most unique children’s books that I came across for my months long David Reads Children’s Books recording project is today’s book Tiny Tailors. I grant you that there is not much of a plot and you cannot dance to it, still it is nevertheless a work of art and soft enough for even the tiniest babies to develop a feel for and to chew on. Both very important considerations for early readers or rather those early read to.
Today is Father’s Day and my forty-third as an actual father myself. My dad died almost twenty-six years ago and not a day goes by that I do not think of him. I have said for years that when I do not know what to do that my dad is my default mode. Like young George Bailey in It’s A Wonderful Life, What Would Dad Do, is a question boys and men often ask themselves when considering the best course of action. It therefore behooves us dads to carefully consider our own steps, for long after we have left the stage our understudies will be walking in our footsteps and delivering their lines as we did before them.
I love you and miss you, Dad. I know you were not perfect, but thanks for doing the best you could and teaching me to as well.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
James Clifford White’s boy,
David White
