The Lion King

Before he was king, before he was called the Lion of Judah, before he slew the giant Goliath, David was a shepherd boy who killed a lion with his sling to protect his flock. Today’s children’s book story is Disney’s The Lion King. It is Simba’s story from his birth to becoming himself The Lion King.

In one of my favorite movies, Hearts In Atlantis, Ted, the psychic who can see into other people’s thoughts, says to his young friend Bobby that Bobby’s first love Carol has the heart of a lion. So does Ted, so does Bobby and all of us if we allow ourselves to be influenced by our higher and best angels.

Not only those born under the sign of Leo (July 22 to August 23) are lions at heart. Leo’s are described as:

Lions have a reputation of roaring and devouring, yet Leo’s are even more “fiercely protective of their nearest and dearest, generous, luxury-loving, sunny and big hearted.” Yes, that describes you to a tee, my friend. Let me hear that roar again.
