To The Chaser And The Chased
In this life we are both the chaser and the chased. Remember the childhood game where the most dreaded thing you can ever be tagged is “It.” And when you are tagged it becomes your duty to run fast as you can and tag someone else making them “It.”
I recall the story of two life long buddies who had played tag as lads many years ago. One of the men was dying and called his friend to his bedside. In a weak voice he beckoned “Come close, closer.” And then when is old friend was in reach with his last breath and last bit of strength he reached out, smacked his friends arm, said “Tag, you’re it” and died.
Before she sang of blue birds singing over the rainbow in the Wizard of Oz, Judy Garland sang about chasing rainbows, hoping to find a little bluebird in vain.”
The blue bird of happiness is chasing you. Tag, you’re it.
