The Princess and the Pea

Today’s classic tale of a very sensitive sleeping princess never made a lot of sense to me till I got older. I have never had much trouble getting or staying asleep throughout my life but as the years have piled up I have found I sleep a lot less and never quite as soundly as I once did. Often I am really just lying there rehearsing verses or subjects to blog about. I really do like my role as a writer, chronicler of life.

My friend Mike Dooley has a gift of saying with far fewer words than I normally choose the great truths of life. Just recently in a Note from the Universe he wrote the following:

So you see I am not the only one with a slightly skewed view of what this life is really all about. Perhaps we all have more in common with the sensitive sleeping princess in the story than we realize.

As was the custom in the home I choose to grow up in this go round seventy years ago today, I say to one and all, sweet dreams, from the Birthday Boy.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

David White
