Lincoln and Kennedy

Their pictures with so many striking similarities stirs the imagination, but then no other two Presidents quite entertain the true history buff’s fascination as these two do. I do love a good rhyme. John F. Kennedy was shot and killed on on my thirteenth birthday. Perhaps in a pervious life that was also the case of another little boy or girl in Abraham Lincoln’s time. You actually take this past lives thing seriously, don’t you, Dave? Yes, I do. And talking to one’s self is not necessarily a sign of insanity nor having an open mind to differing opinions and ideas. I am relatively new at it, being a long time “true believer” you know one of those religious folks that believes all truth is contained in a single book, scroll, piece of parchment, or person. But no more, I am completely open to anything new or old that the Universe wants to show me.

For all their weaknesses and short comings Abraham Lincoln and John Kennedy were both wonderful examples of what it means to really live a life. I hope to live the rest of this one like they did theirs making a real difference as they did. Whether I achieve the notoriety or remembrance by many that they did is inconsequential, I just want this life to matter. And, if as I suspect, I get several if not many other chances I hope to awaken sooner to who I really am and make an even bigger difference in other people’s lives next time. In my slightly skewed view that is what I think Abraham, Martin, and John did. I love that song by the way and hope to sing it on my Daily Mockingbird Song email someday. I also suppose that Jesus, Buddha, Mohamed, and Ghaundi and a host of others did that too – awoke to their true identity early and made a real difference in their time even to now. Like the true Bible worshipper that I once was I have a proof text for that opinion. Now of days I realize that truth is everywhere and anywhere you find it. But for you Bible lovers here goes, “Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus who being found in the form of (or realizing he was) God…humbled himself…(and I paraphrase here) really lived the life of a man.”

Yes, that is what Abraham Lincoln and John Kennedy did and we honor them yet today because they did. That glorious opportunity is available to each and all. Only we ourselves will judge how good a job we did when this life is over. Live it to the max. I believe that God, contrary to popular opinion, does not judge (that is an ego thing). He/She only loves us through all of our lives.

David White
