Trust The Journey
Each of us is on a Magical Mystery Tour to quote the title of one of the Beatles’ last albums, a journey. Much as we may try to deny it, at times, we had some long ago input in planning this adventure, at least our higher self did. Oh, no, the itinerary is not set it stone but more interactive and flexible. A famous quote from Mike Dooley, the author of Notes From The Universe, says, “Thoughts Become Things.” I believe we can with our thoughts revise our travel plans, spend a few days longer in places and with people we really enjoy or cut some stops a little short if we like and move on.
Because as the Apostle Paul or his ghost writer (pun intended) put it, “We see as through a glass darkly” sometimes we just need to trust our travel planner and guide – Trust the Journey, as the parrot in the cool graffiti picture says. Trust a parrot to know color and song and the journey to know just where to lead you for the optimum in fun and adventure.
When I was a boy there was a TV show called This Is Your Life where someone was surprised weekly by friends planning secretly a get-together to celebrate a life well-lived. Many religious folks have be taught a tale of a horrendous final judgement where it sounds like most everyone but a select few are not going to be happy with the Big Judge’s finally ruling. But, I believe each of us is the final judge of our life and for all our seeming wrong turns, mistakes, and accidents when we get to the end of this journey we are going to look back on it and be forced to admit that it was indeed the journey of a life time and that we would not change a thing. So much for wasting time now or ever on silly regrets. Trust the expert planner who mapped out this particular journey for you and is continually writing and rewriting the story of your life as it unfolds. Remember, this is your life, this is your journey, and don’t forget to have fun, and trust the journey.
Your friend and traveler,
David White
