All Will Be Provided
Do we really believe that? I think not. Our Protestant work ethic comes from the believers who taught, “Pray like it all depends on God and work like it all depends on you.” The “get what you want through hard work” belief is to me just as bogus as the coach or manager belief that says, “treat your players/workers hard – that is what gets the job done.” The reality is that the job gets done if it gets done in spite of harsh and hard handed coaching and management not because of it by caring and competent players and workers who give their best in spite of unsympathetic and unsupportive coaching and management. The One we are ultimately working for does not, no matter what anything purporting to be His/Her word says, make it hard on us to get us to work better or for our own good. The Divine does not cause our troubles and trials. We do that well enough all by ourselves and in concert with our brothers and sisters. What Papa does is work in all the messes we create to work them out for our good so that no matter what, we can “Win some or learn some” often both, in every situation no matter how dark or difficult.
It was a man who doubted the goodness of his creator/father/mother/friend and believed himself weak and a failure and unworthy of paradise and provision who left of his and her own free will – Interpreting what happen as banishment. The Bible as all books was written by men and interpreted by men who more often than not just got it wrong. That Bible whom so many revere has the God of the Universe who is Love personified tell one group of His children “to cut off (meaning kill) everyone that pisseth against the wall” in a certain place. The absurdity of killing innocents or even the guilty in the name of Love is evident to all not completely indoctrinated to believe everything writ is true no matter how ridiculous. People are always defending the Bible or more particularly their own interpretation or understanding of it but somethings are indefensible and what is true and correct wherever it is written or spoken needs no defense. Worshipping a book is idolatry by definition in that very Book. Still some would rather worship stories of preference and revenge than believe we are all loved and provided for or as the fallen angel, Lucifer, in John Milton’s epic poem, Paradise Lost, would rather “reign in hell than serve in heaven.”
I know many will balk at these opinions and yes they are just opinions but some time ago I decided to discard any and all beliefs that do not serve me. There is a line in the Bible that reads, “Though he slay me, yet will I serve him.” I once thought that a beautiful sentiment of faith and devotion.” Now I just think it “wrong headed” and mistaken of the true nature of God. Even Jesus cried out in his pain, “Father, why have you forsaken me.” Papa never left Jesus nor any of us to fend for ourselves but everything we could ever want or need has always been provided.
This I firmly believe, at least till I see something better to believe.
