A Wonderful World, Indeed

A couple of weeks ago I started a new daily effort that is encouraging me and I hope will be an encouragement to others. I started emailing a song daily to folks that I have an email address for that I think might enjoy a song. I call this my Daily Mockingbird Song. Be warned, I am the mocking bird. As I noted in my email this morning – mockingbirds are not always the best singers, they just have a song to sing. Mockingbirds are the State Bird in several US states, including my birth state of Tennessee, and according to one of my favorite books some might even consider it a sin to kill a mockingbird for they do nothing but sing their hearts out for us. Do keep that in mind if you sign up to receive free of charge The Daily Mockingbird Song. Just email your email address to: dwhite6359@gmail.com to start receiving a Daily Mockingbird Song.

Those of you who have been following my writing for a while know that my daughter, Emily Elaine White was a song bird who graced us with song for thirty-two years then flew, I believe, to a higher, bigger concert hall. It has been over five years since she sang in this venue but many of us, her devoted fans, have tried to keep her songs alive. A week or so ago I posted a blog in which I shared my own version of the wonderful song, What A Wonderful World. I had several nice comments, no snide, remarks and for that I thank many of you for your restraint. One friend and fan of Emily sent me Emily’s version of What A Wonderful World. I share it here with you.

It was a rare treat for me and I hope it will be for you too. All parents hope to live on through their children and their children’s children. My Emily died young and had no children but her songs are her children and they live on. Emily loved music and you have only to listen to her sing to know that in her voice. It has been my privilege to not just get to be Emily’s dad for a little over thirty years but to introduce many of you who never knew her in life to her and her songs these passed five years. And if I live another forty years, as I intend, I hope to introduce her and her sweet voice to many more. Just doing what I can to make not only mine but everybody else’s – a Wonderful World, Indeed.

Your friend and fellow traveler,

Fan of Emily,

David White
