Yes, Namaste Again

I really like the concept of Namaste, or recognizing the not so secret identity of others and ourselves. When we learn that we all have a higher self and even more when we learn to tap into that self in both ourself and others we can truly sing, What A Wonderful World.

It is nice to be reminded of Who and Who’s we really are. One of my favorite sermon illustrations that speaks to this I heard many years ago but it has stayed with me. The train commuter had an important early business meeting in the city to attend. He was in a hurry and running up the ramp to meet the train that was just about to pull off. Half way up the ramp he ran into a lad with an arm full of newspapers to sell. He sent the boy sprawling and the newspapers flying. If he stopped to apologize, help the boy up, and to retrieve his papers he would miss the important meeting maybe even lose his job. But the right thing to do was clear. He helped the boy up, apologized, and started gathering the newspapers. The boy looked up into his eyes and said, “Hey, Mister, are you Jesus.” And in that moment because he had chosen to follow the dictates of his higher self he was. Some years ago Christians started a little movement of sorts, mainly with young people, called What Would Jesus Do? The idea was that before every decision, every action to stop a moment and ask the question and then try to do exactly what Jesus would do.

For sometime now I have no longer considered myself a Christian. Unlike many other religious people who allow that Jesus was a great prophet I still believe that Jesus was the son of God but so are we all, ladies too. We are everyone of us full children of the Universe, at least our higher self is. Jesus tapped into that Higher Self. He was not the first nor the last to do so. The “gate keepers” are the ones who have a problem with anyone claiming to be God, not because they don’t believe them, but because it is bad for business. Religion is big business. Someday I hope there is a big going out of business sale. Last thing we need is another religion, another take on God. Get in touch with your Higher Self and you will know this much is true. Namaste is meant for me and it is meant for you. “I bow to the divinity in you.”

Your friend and fellow traveler,

Sharing our secret identity,

David White
