Save The Best For Last
From time to time I run a picture of my most recent blog business card, first because it has a beautiful picture and secondly because it tells a little bit about me:
The name of my blog
It’s purpose “Where often is heard an encouraging word…”
My email
My blog address
My phone number
My name
That I am a friend and fellow traveler
Writer
Speaker
Singer Songwriter
Teacher
Right in the sticky middle of the way that I self-describe is “Singer.” After 800 blogs I really am beginning to think of myself as quite a writer – I hope you will come to think so as well. But I still do not think of myself as much of a singer hence if you notice I even typed Singer Songwriter on the card though so far in my journey I am more of a poet than a song writer per say. I hope to get around to that later, but in order to help myself to become and to think of myself as a better singer my plan is simple. Writing and posting every day has I think made me a better writer and helped me to see myself as that so I propose to record at least one song a day and share them with someone. Not always in this blog but at least in a text to a friend or several. If you would be interested in an encouraging song, sung just for you daily and to anyone else interested, just email me your email address and I will email you a link to a song each day. Or I could text the link to your phone if you have a smart phone and provide the phone number. No fee, not even a love offering requested or allowed and I promise not to share your email address or phone number with advertisers or salesmen or to try to sell you anything myself.
As I wrote that last bit I thought of a Glen Campbell song where he sings:
“Country boy, you’ve got your feet in L.A.
But your mind’s on Tennessee
I can remember a time
When I sang my songs for free.”
The joy it is to me just singing is payment enough. Someday when I am good enough to be paid for it, I would still want to sing for free. Mocking birds always sing free of charge and I aspire nothing more of my singing than to be a mockingbird. And even if you do not care for my singing please do not attempt to kill a mocking bird, an allusion to one of my favorite books, To Kill A Mockingbird.
The lovely Vanessa Williams sang a song early in her singing career called Save The Best For Last and here is a link to her singing it:
She was once voted Miss America and then forced to surrender her title because of some photos that came out. She overcame all that mess and went on to be a famous singer and actress. My hat is off to her for a truly brave and beautiful person she is. I dedicate my effort in recording this to Vanessa who saved the best for last.

She sings it well and sang it first. I am just a mockingbird.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
Singer,
