The Road

There have been many song lyrics dealing with roads:

“A long and winding road that leads to your door.”

“Life is a highway. I want to do it my way, all night long.”

“Why don’t we do it in the road?”

being but three examples. Wide roads, narrow roads, roads less traveled, life is full of roads. We are everyone of us on a road headed somewhere. Some times because we linger a day or two or fifty years in the same general vicinity we seem to forget that we still are strangers in a strange land. This is not our permanent home, only a weigh station in our travels. Some believe what we do here determines where we will go next or where we start out on the next leg or life in our continuing journey.

What do you think? Many a Saturday morning as a boy I recall hearing Roy Rogers and Dale Evans singing:

“Happy trails to you

Until we meet again

Happy trails to you

Keep smiling until then.

Happy trails to you

Till we me again.”

And the Irish say and pray, “May the road rise up to meet your every step along the way.”

Your friend and fellow traveler,

I love a good road trip,

David White
