Eyes And Heart Watching For Signs

Since college I have been quite a fan of C.S. Lewis, probably most well known for his children’s book series, The Chronicles Of Narnia. My deceased children Emily and David loved them all throughout their lives. David’s favorite book in the series and one of my favorites is The Silver Chair. In the beginning of the story a young girl is given some signs to repeat over and over and instructed to watch for them to aid her in carrying out a special mission for Aslan, the Lion King ruler of that world. Her partner, a boy who has been in Narnia before, misses the instructions from Aslan, due to the girl having pushed him off a cliff and Aslan having had to blow him to Narnia ahead of her. He arrives in Narnia just minutes before her but still early enough to miss the first sign, which is that he is supposed to talk to the first person he sees, an old friend that he may not recognize. He does not recognize the first person he sees and so he does not speak to him and important help and information is lost. The lesson Lewis is teaching us all, children and adults, is the importance of watching for and not missing the important signs in our lives.

I have for several years kept an I Can Do It, Louise Hay, calendar with me in my travels. She ended her wonderful adventure with us the last of August and has gone on, I am sure, to bigger and better things but her words will continue to be encouraging to many. I have found those affirmations on the daily pages to be helpful signs to follow. I decided yesterday not to order a new calendar for 2018 but to look even more closely for other signs from the Universe in other places. The signs are everywhere if we just keep our eyes and our heart open for those that say  plainly. “This is for you, this is important, this you should do, or steer clear of.”

Watch for the signs, a sure way to enjoy and get the most out of your journey. See you later, Louise. Today as the Maurice Chevalier song says,  “Every little breeze seems to whisper, Louise,”

Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
