More inside Out

A friend was lovingly scolding me recently for referring to my boyhood self as “poor white trash” and said that only the “white” part was right because that is my last name. I replied that I never think of myself as poor, trash  or even white. My body unless I fail to keep it clean, and I try, is really more of a beige. That reminds me that all us humans are pink on the inside. I think that is so we remember that we not only have the clever and creative (sometime cruel) male principle inside us, but the compassionate and loving mothering (sometimes smothering) female principle as well. We are pretty in pink. I went on in my reply to say that perhaps we should all wear our insides out a little more. That would certainly serve to add a new definition to pretty.

I am grateful and fortunate to have many friends and fans to get and bounce ideas off of. We could all use many more of them, friends and ideas. And that my friends is one of the main purposes of this blog. To introduce myself and my encouraging words to you hoping that you, we, can see ourselves in one another and recognize that we are all friends and fellow travelers and in a greater sense, the One and the same great friend and traveler.

What we have on the inside is way bigger than could ever fit into one or even many bodies. We are magnificent celestial beings from out of this world. Every boy and girl, no matter their outward appearance or behavior, is still a bright star from heaven above and worthy or worship, adoration, and love and will forever shine. I know many of you think I am just waxing poetic but these things I believe to be true about me and you.

Think about it the next time you catch a glimpse of yourself or someone else that you do not find particularly favoring. Turn that picture/person inside out and remember that we, like pretty Marilyn in the picture – are all pretty in pink and just itching to show it and to shine.

Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
