The Queen Of Hearts

Today, I would like to pay a special tribute to one of the lovely ladies I married. She is the mother of my son and even more than that one of the great loves of my life. We were married twenty eight years ago today and are still legally married. We were both thirty nine years old or near it when we married and are so much alike in so many ways that it is scary. Scary because it is really hard to know where one of us ends and the other begins. We have been separated for over nine years but she has never been very far from my heart nor I hers. It is my opinion that if you ever really let someone into your heart that they are forever a part of you and you them.

Linda Lee is pictured today as The Queen Of Hearts. Almost as many years ago the bank where she worked had a costume contest and they were awarding prizes. She asked me to make something special for her to wear. Excited to use my artist flair, with colored markers I drew two identical Queen Of Hearts playing cards on large foam poster board for her to wear like advertising sign boards. She completed her costume with a harlequin outfit she already had and excesserized it with a crown and earrings made of playing cards. The total effect won her first prize as you can tell from her smile in the picture.

Though we live lives separated, usually by great distances, we are I believe as close perhaps even closer than we ever were. I never intend to marry again nor does she I think so we leave our marital status unchanged. Paper or no, I know that I will always love the Queen Of Hearts and support her and help her in every way I can. My hat is off to her and all you kings and queens of hearts.

Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
