I Feel Like I Should Thank You
For the privilege of getting to share my stories and my thoughts with you, I feel like I should thank you, Dear Readers. You are the reason I strive to gather my thoughts to write the best I can and to double, triple quadruple check my facts and as well my spelling and grammar. Do I always get it right? Well, I would not be human if that were true but I do give it my best shot.
I am always turning my mind over looking for a new angle to the oldest and best story – The love story. Like most of you I am a sucker for a good love story. Never mind if so many seem like fantasies or do not seem to last. The wonderful song from Disney’s latest incarnation of Beauty and the Beast, How Does A Moment Last Forever, concludes with “When our song lives on” being the answer to the question. One of the greatest loves of my life asked me recently if our song lives on. And without hesitation I answered, “Of course, ours like all love songs will never die.” Their haunting notes continue on and on forever. Some scientific theorists have speculated that if we had a microphone powerful enough we could hear Adam’s first love song to Eve or hers back to him still echoing out through the Universe . And indeed we do, it is called the human heart. Within, it is continually picking up the sound of love songs ancient and new. All of which have their basis and beat from the one great love story and song.
One very beautiful gospel quartet song about the Garden of Eden is called A Small Lonely Hill. In the song when Adam and Eve turn away from God you hear the words, “But God said I love him (them) and I won’t let him go. And then a shadow on that hillside appeared. A man hung there dying, crying, “I thirst.” Oh, I thank God for that small lonely hill.” A friend sent me the book, Eve, written by Wm. Paul Young, author of The Shack. I have finished reading it and highly recommend it to all. It is very touching and thoughtful, two attributes that all great writers seem to master.
I end this blog by again saying thank you for reading me and for inspiring me to write every day and the very best I can. I know that good writing is supposed to inspire readers but then with my skewed view approach I like to turn things around and it is equally if not more true that great readers inspire writers to write great words. We owe them all to you.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
