Wiser But Unsure

Wiser But Unsure

When I was the young man I read the Bible over and over many times and it spoke to me. I have come to believe that the Universe can use anything that we pay a lot of attention to, read over and over, look at again and again, or sing time and again to speak to us. God so wants to get our undivided attention so He/She can show us great and wonderful things. I know my continual use of She/He and Him/Her to refer to the Divine ticks many of you old schoolers off. Get over yourselves it plainly says that we were created in God’s image. “Male and female created” therefore God must be male and female, day and night, heaven and earth for God is all in all. Want to see God,? Want to hear God? Focus. Concentrate. Practice and repetition of anything bring a more perfect understanding.

As two examples I saw The Shack movie five times and the reread the book which was at least my third reading I saw things with each viewing and reading that I had never seen before. Also I saw the latest incarnation of Disney’s Beauty and Beast live action movie with animation three times and then bought the sound track which I have listen to no less than a hundred times through since I got it. I have it in my work Truck and I travel a lot of miles. These wonderful songs continue to inspire me as I sing along and let my heart and mind marinate in the wonderful lyrics and melodies. In the song, Something There That Wasn’t There Before, Belle sings:

“There something sweet and almost kind
But he was mean and he was course and unrefined
And now he’s dear and so unsure
I wonder why I didn’t see it there before.”

But before those very telling observations and in the song before that song, Days In Sun, Belle sings:

“How in the midst of all this sorrow
Can so much hope and love endure
 I was innocent and certain
 Now I’m wiser but unsure.”

It is indeed wiser to be unsure and to ever remain a student. The Universe has so much more to teach us of hope, of love, of light and, of life.

Forever student of the Universe,
David White
