There’s A Storm In The Air

We all know what it feels like. There is a palpable charge in the air. A storm is coming. What do we do? Do we run? Do we panic? Do we hide? Some do but some, like me, love a good storm. Sometimes this ole world needs a good shaking. A dear old grandma that had a very personal running conversation with the Almighty said she loved a good storm, ‘Cause it let’s the powerful folk know Who the real power is and there is comfort for the little folk in that.” Comfort for us all if we know the real power of love.

Huey Lewis and The News had a hit song featured at the beginning of the first Back To The Future movie called The Power Of Love:

“The Power of love is a curious thing
Make a one man weep, make another man sing
Change your heart into a little white dove
That’s the power, that’s the power of love.”

There is a lot of power in storms but nothing to equal the power of love. War is based on fear, revenge, and the power to destroy. There have been a lot of dust ups in and around Palestine for years. I remember a song popular in my youth called “The Eve Of Destruction” in which one line said, “Even the Jordan River has bodies floating.” But Love is more powerful than hate, more powerful than a Hydrogen Bomb or that MOAB bomb that was dropped on Afghanistan to show how big and bad the U.S, military is. I was not impressed neither were those we think of as our enemies. Love started a little dust up in Palestine over two thousand years ago. I understand there have been some other storms of non-violent love that have been breaking out even before and since all around this big blue ball. The storm of war is meant to intimidate but the storm of love is meant to transform and it does and it will. There’s a storm coming and this baby is gonna blow your mind.
