Make You Feel My Love

Often the inspiration for my blogs comes from a love song. One such love song, featured in the Sandra Bullock movie, Hope Floats, is a song covered by country singer Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood called, Make You Feel My Love. I would sing it for you but Garth and Trisha both have nicer voices and much as I love to sing I am a word guy more than a singer so here are the words:

Make You Feel My Love
Written by Bob Dylan as sung by Garth Brooks

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I would offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love.

When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.

I know you haven’t made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I’ve known it from the moment that we met
There’s no doubt in my mind where you belong.

I’d go hungry, I’d go blind for you,
I’d go crawling down the avenue
There ain’t nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my love.

The storms are raging on a rolling sea
Down the highway of regret
Winds of change are blowing wild and free
But you ain’t seen nothing like me, yet.

There ain’t nothing that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
Make you happy, make your dreams come true,
To make you feel my love.

That song may seem like hyperbole, exaggeration, to some but most of us know a story told especially this time of year about how Love did go crawling down an avenue under a heavy cross beam and how that a bit later in the story those perfect all-seeing loving eyes were so full of pain, blood, sweat, and tears that they were blinded for a moment and could not see the Father and so Love cried out, “My God, My God why have you forsaken me.” Love was never alone even in that terribly painful moment and neither are we and the whole lesson of that gruesome scene is that of the song, “There ain’t nothing that I wouldn’t do to make you feel my love.” Every true love song is an echo of the One True Love. Do you feel it today? It is there in the shrine that Love made for a place to forever dwell, the Heaven that is your heart and mine. Happy Easter, Pilgrims.
