But One Day To Live
What would you do if you were informed by a reliable source that this would be your last day, the only day left you to make it all right? That is the theme of a recently released movie called Before I Fall. It is a young person movie about high schoolers, cliques, pranks, and the sometimes mean things young people do thinking they are cool. The pretty young starlet who plays the lead lives her last day, then wakes up over and over to relive that last day till she gets it right. What she learns and the audience about how to treat others and how to use our influence to bring out the best in ourselves and others is way cooler than being in the “in-crowd.”
I have what may be a startling revelation. Are you paying attention? I have it from a very reliable source that you and I only have one day to live – today. If we really get it right we may get to graduate ahead of our class. If we get it wrong we may get another chance tomorrow but it will still be today. Ever feel like you were living the same day over and over again? Many do and have a short saying for that feeling, “Same slip, different day.” And yeah, I cleaned that up a bit but you get my drift. The best way to change that is to pay attention and look for those small details in every today that are life changing, world changing.
Just one day to live. Most of us can look back through our memories to a day, a moment, an act that changed the whole direction of our lives. We have the power to do that today for not only ourself but for those with whom we come in contact. There are so many people searching for meaning in life and who question whether their life really matters to anyone. You and I with just a smile or a kind word can help them answer that question, “Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.” All lives do matter, if we only knew how deeply and completely we are loved we could never ask that question again.
Have a wonderful day, my friends,
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
