Angels Among Us
There are many people who believe that there are aliens among us. If they are talking about aliens from other planets I have no personal experience to support that theory or belief. That is not to say it could not prove to be true. If they are talking about undocumented aliens from other countries in the United States I have worked with a number over the years. I am confident when my ancestors got here that they had no papers and probably could not have read them if they had. I do not think I am better than anyone else because I can speak, read, and write English or because of my sex or the color of my skin or the place of my birth. But that is not what I started out to write about – not what I do not believe or think but what I do. I believe their are angels among us.
First let me define the term angel: “A messenger, especially of God.” And I know there are many definitions of angel. An old joke has one man telling another about a date he had with an angel. He said to his friend, “She looked like an angel. She walked like and angel. She talked like an angel.” His friend as him, “What happened to her.” Sadly he responded, “She flew away.”
Joking aside, I really believe there are messengers carrying a very important message for us.
We hear messages every day, we are bombarded with commercial messages, political messages, religious messages – get a quote for this, take a pill for that, don’t believe them, don’t shoot the messenger. What is a person to believe or think of all these often conflicting messages? Everybody seems to have a product or service to sell, an angle, or an axe to grind.
But I believe we have within us the ability to know a when message is true and to our good and also when it is false and only sent to manipulate us.
Pinnochio had a conscience named Jiminy Cricket and each of us has a conscience. Through acts that go against our consciousness of right and wrong we try often to put our conscience to sleep and keep it sleeping but we know that our best angels are always trying to wake us up to what is true. So while you are on the look out for angels never forget the angel that is in each one of us. Often an angel unawares perhaps but nevertheless an angel with a message tried and true for me and for you. Same song second verse, “Angels we have heard on high…peace on earth (or in earth) good will to men (and women too, boys and girls.)” That is the one song, one message that the angels always sing, always bring. And despite all the fearful and often disturbing messages out there the message of the angels is still true. And there are angels among us.
