Imagine

One of my good friends likes to sum up his life philosophy in two simple phrases – “Thoughts become things.” And “Choose the good ones.” I believe it is very important the thoughts that we hold hold on to, invest emotion in, and choose to dwell on. Wow, three dangling prepositions in a row. That is a record for even me but I hope the obvious emphasis is not wasted. With my friend I believe that we create the dream we live in by the dreams we choose to feed, the thoughts we choose to focus on, and thereby manifest in our lives. It is an interesting concept this manifesting. Religions have taught from time in memorial that prayer changes things, that the Universe, God if you will, hears and responds to the fervent requests of His children.

There is not a hairs difference in a true prayer and a true intention for both fit the definition “Ask (or intend) whatsoever you will, believing, you shall receive.” Meditation, prayer time, and the intention process are all about thinking about what you want and sending that out like casting bread upon the water believing it will return to you. Some do not like the term “dreaming” so I will use the term “imagine.” Before everything that is there was imagination or the thought of it. Words are but symbols of thoughts we have imagined in our heads and hearts. The scientists are quick to point out that the literal heart is a blood pump and not a thinking organ but poetically it is the seat of our emotional life and literally at the center of our physical body which we erroneously think of as our being. Our true heart or center of our being is our connection to “all there is”, the true altar to God, the Universe, our connection. And we all may rest assured that the offerings, prayers, and intentions offered there are received, answered, and manifested.

I carry in my pocket the pictured “pocket rock” with the word “Imagine” etched deep and printed on it. When I touch the rock I am reminded to envision the world of my dreams, my imagination. And I send that vision out to God, the Universe, as a prayer, an intention, a rough blueprint of my world as I want it to be. Too, many people do not realize they are doing the same thing with their nightmares, haunting visions of things they do not want in their lives. Then they wonder at all the bad crap materializing in their lives. It is no good blaming the world, our parents, or others for the world we live in. Without knowing it, perhaps, we are  perpetuating the same messed up world by thinking about and talking about what we don’t want all the time. The world can and will change for us when we change our minds, when we refuse to think about what we don’t want and learn to concentrate on what we do want. You see thoughts really do become things. So by all means pick the good ones. Do you want prosperity, health, friends, a lover? Think and talk about what you want and it is yours. Do you want a constant struggle just to make ends meet, one sickness after another, to feel friendless and alone, to forever grieve a lost or unresponsive lover? Well, just keep thinking and talking that stuff and that is the stuff your life is made of.

“Imagine there’s no heaven. It’s easy if you try. No hell below us, above us only sky. Imagine all the people living life in peace.” Those lines disturbed a lot of Christian people when John Lennon first wrote and sang them because they got hung up on the first two sentences and missed the whole point. There will only be peace on earth, heaven on earth, when we learn to imagine it now, not in some sweet by and by.

Imagining only the highest and best for myself and everyone,
