Fear Cannot Make Anything Real
A lot of excuses are made for fear and we are told it is such a powerful drive or emotion. But as the title implies fear is really a weak and puny thing and cannot make anything real and that is because fear is not real. Fear is that monster under the bed or in the closet that may be scary but has no teeth.
The true opposite of love is not hate but fear. We hate what we do not know, what we are afraid of. If we really knew it, that thing we fear, we’d love it because love is all there is, and that is real. Our poets and song writers have been trying to tell us this for years. Just two quick off the top of my head examples from country and rock passed hits will suffice, “What The World Needs Now Is Love Sweet Love” and “All You Need Is Love.”
As the children’s book The Velveteen Rabbit taught us all “love makes you real.”Love makes eveverything real. When we look at the person we thought fearfully was our enemy through the lens of love we see that he was our brother all along. To paraphrase a favorite song, “There ain’t no good guys. There ain’t no bad guys. There’s only you and me and sometimes brothers and sisters just disagree.”
The positive philosophy that I remind myself to live by often says that we should always frame our thoughts without the use of the negative. I left the “fear cannot make anything real” as the title of this piece to emphasize what I believe to be the true title, our title to the riches of the Universe, namely, Love Makes You Real. Not so silly rabbit, you got that one right.
