It is sad when people give up on life. I am a Veteran and I heard a very sad statistic yesterday that twenty Veterans commit suicide every day. I wept for my brothers and sisters who are struggling with the horrors of war, who feel isolated and in a deep dark hole so terrible that death seems the only way out.
It isn’t, my friends, my own mother took that option but I am here to tell you that no matter how deep or dark a hole you find yourself in there is an opening to the sun and the sky at the top of every hole. Anger is the first step up from despair. Climb the ladder one emotion, one step, at a time and you can escape that hole and find yourself right smack dab in the middle of the life you always dreamed you would be living.
It is never too late. I’ll tell you how I know that is so. You are still alive and where there is life there is always hope. The title of today’s piece, Life Is What You Make It is really only a starting place. Your part in the Creation Story is that of Adam. In the story it says that all the creatures were brought before Adam to name and that none was found to complete him so the LORD God caused a deep sleep to come upon him. It never says he woke up. But a line used in several places in what Paul Harvey might refer to as the rest of the story is, “Awake, oh sleeper.”
Some speculate that like the round we learned as children, Row, Row, Row Your Boat that life really is “But a dream.” And what is a dream but a world where we can experience everything we choose but in safety. No matter how scary we choose to make our dream, and yes you are the author, director, cast, and even stage and scenery of this play we call life. Don’t blame it on God if it is a flop or seeming failure for God’s part in this co-created, co-produced dream/play is to guide you through each story back to the full awareness of Who and Whose you are. Simply put, you and I are children of The LORD God, the Universe, and we are not alone, we are not our own, but we are His now and forever. Have fun dreaming and remember that your dreams, your thoughts are His thoughts choose the good ones, the fun ones, the knock your socks off ones.
Your friend and fellow dreamer,
David White
