An excerpt from the book, Emily – The Little Girl Who Sang Her Song To Anyone Who Came Along)
Episode 26
I suppose there is some part of me that hopes Emily’s Little Book (refer to Preface for details about the Book referred to as Emily’s Little Book) will turn up, that this book will make Emily famous and that someone reading this book will contact me and say, “We have located Emily’s Little Book.” I have imagined the package stuck in some dead letter office somewhere between Texas and Wyoming and that someday it would be found and forwarded to the Happy Camper Trailer Park in Baggs, Wyoming or returned to Emily’s Mom in Austin, Texas. Alas, perhaps it has served its purpose.
That purpose was first and foremost to be a reminder to Emily that she was loved even before she made her first appearance on planet earth. Much as her earthly family loved her she was bathed in the sunlight of love from a higher realm. Each of us is. The Word says,”Every good and perfect gift comes down from the father of lights in whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning.” That last part is just a poetic way of saying he does not change. God loves you and he does not change. When you are touched by one so full of love as Emily the message is clearer, stronger, easier to hear, and receive. It is that we are loved, we are love able, we are altogether lovely, for we are Love.
That was the message of Emily’s Little Book and this book and all books to some degree or another. The message the Angels sang, the message nailed to the cross was “I love you.” And so was the message of Emily’s life.
I think the one thing we are here to learn, I mean besides how to have a good time, is how to love ourselves, others, and God. I once thought the order mattered a great deal. I no longer do. I do not think it really matters whom or what you love first for all loves lead home to the Source. The Source is another of my favorite names for God, the Universe or love in all caps, LOVE. Loving anyone or anything opens you up and makes you a bigger better channel through which Love can flow to each and all. Even a stunted or limited love is a step in the right direction.
Huey Lewis and the News sang:
The power of love is a curious thing
Make one man weep, make another man sing
Change your heart to a little white dove
That’s the power, that’s the power of love.
My daughter Emily was from the beginning of her thirty-two year adventure in time and space a bundle of love. Everyone who got to know her was touched by love. To paraphrase an oft quoted Bible verse that I believe is true of all the Universe’s Love Children not just the Love Child known as Jesus, “God/ The Universe so loved the world He/She sent us Emily – The Little Girl Who Sang Her Song (her sweet love song) To Anyone Who Came Along” to remind us all Who and Whose we are and that Love is eternal.” There you have it the good news according to Emily and
Your friend and fellow traveler, Emily’s Dad,

David, after reading this I honestly don’t know how you do it. Being a father of two and a dad to a total of six, I get chocked up even reading this. I keep finding myself wanting to read more, wanting to continue to get to know your daughter….. I truly believe everything happens for a reason and there is a reason we melt at that job in Indiana. I hope all is well and I will keep Emily’s Mother and Brother in my family’s prayers… God bless/Semper Fi
