Blog 350 – 07.22.2016(Excerpt from the book, Emily – The Little Girl Who Sang Her Song To Anyone Who Came Along)

Episode 21

The Music Machine
One of Emily’s favorite albums as a little girl was a Christian songs for children album called The Music Machine. As especially young children will, she listened to it over and over till she had all the songs memorized. I found a copy of the vinyl LP when Emily was in her twenties in a thrift store and bought it to play and remind me of great times with Em, with my little girl. I gave it too her on one of her visits to her Houston family.
On one of her Father’s Day mixed CD’s she included part of a song from The Music Machine that spoke of love, joy, and peace. The lyrics to the part about peace go like this:
Peace is when
The wind stops blowing
Peace is when
The sun is showing.
Knowing that my Daddy’s home
God gives me peace.

Peace, peace,
I think I understand.
Peace, peace,
Is holding Jesus’ hand.

Peace is when
I’m tucked in bed
When my Mommy
Pats my head.
Peace is smiling while I sleep
God gives me peace.

Is holding Jesus’ hand.

Another very sweet selection from the Music Machine that I have sung both to Emily and others since I first heard it is about the importance of being patient. On the album the song is sung by a turtle and he sings very slowly but I think his words are important to remember for children of all ages:
Have patience, have patience,
Don’t be in such a hurry.
When you get impatient
You only start to worry.

Remember, remember,
That God is patient too,
And think of all the times
When others had to wait for you.

These precious songs had a profound effect upon Emily’s adventure in Time and Space and they can in yours too if you will allow them. The young people a few years back had a saying, “Free your mind and the rest will follow.” And Em and I say, Amen to that.
