For most of this sixty-five year adventure I have been fascinated with both the idea of time travel and with traveling in space. Though these terms have a specific meaning in a more general sense that is what each of us does all throughout this adventure we casually call life.
Each time we remember we travel back in time to relive an episode from our past. And when we try to project into the future what may or may not happen we are traveling there as well. We need to limit those trips or we will find we have missed the greatest adventure in time by failing to appreciate this magic moment in time called now.
Many in my generation grew up hoping they would get to travel in outer space. Inner space traveling is just as wonderful as we plumb the depths of our own mind and heart and realize that even on such a seeming solitary journey that we are not alone. God. The Universe, The Higher Self is always with us in inner space, outer space, or on that wondrous living space called The Big Blue Marble, Earth, or terra firma.
I consider myself fortunate to have gotten to travel much of the globe and especially these United Stated of America but there is yet so much I want to see before I turn in the keys to this space vehicle called David James White or Sputnik by at least one friend. Sputnik means “traveler” which is why the Russians gave that name to the first artificial satellite launched into space. I sign off each of my blogs with “Your friend and fellow traveler, David White” because that is how I see myself and each of you – Friends and Fellow Travelers in Time and Space.
And my dearest wish for both myself and all of my friends and fellow travelers is “Bon Voyage” or Good Journey to each and all. If you need a map or travel guide one has been provided, an internal compass. Follow your heart. If you are fearful of making a wrong turn or getting lost rest easy for both are equally impossible. A detour maybe but there is no getting lost or wrong turns on this journey. Even if you decide that you like the place you landed and spend your whole adventure in that locale. No worries, Mate, you get to make your own itinerary. It is all quite literally up to you. Have the time of your life, indeed.
Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
