T.G.I.F. (Thank God It’s Friday)

Blog 310 – 06.03.2016

I am not a great one for acronyms but TGIF is one I can get my mind and heart around. It is not all that often that I get a work assignment that the construction crews I inspect have Saturdays off but when it happens I too am grateful for Fridays. Christians celebrate the Friday before Easter as Good Friday. But all Fridays are good especially when you have Saturday and Sunday off work.

I have found that an attitude of gratitude is an essential ingredient for a happy life. The writer of The Secret believes that gratitude is the key to getting you want in life, that being grateful for what you have opens you up to receive all the good things you desire from a Universe more willing to send them your way than you are willing to receive them.

I have heard this preached in Christian churches for years but the message was often garbled and confused with other conflicting messages about being good and obeying all the rules, God’s Law. There is a universal law it is The Law of Attraction. Like attracts like. What comes to you is drawn to you by what you send out, what you are, the vibration you generate.

Elvis Presley sang, “Why can’t every day be like Christmas?” to which I add, Why can’t everyday be like Friday? Of course they can just as soon as we learn to be grateful for all the gifts each day brings even Mondays. Karen Carpenter sang, “Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.” But I love rainy days and Mondays and we can love everything and everybody if we let ourselves. And learn to thank God not just for Fridays but for Rainy Day People and every day of our lives.
