Blog 293 – 05.12.2016

When I was a young man in Journalism class in high school I dreamed of one day working for a large newspaper and after paying my dues as a cub news reporter getting choice writing assignments and then maybe later having a daily column of my own. In my second year of Journalism I got to be co-editor of the editorial page of the school newspaper and in each issue I had a by-lined column called In My Opinion. My blog: www.theencouragingword.co is but an extension of that column I began almost fifty years ago.

Way back then I dreamed of one day making my living writing, of actually getting paid for doing one of the things I love doing most. A dear friend told me recently that she saw something online where someone was offering paid writing assignments. That is what I am looking for. If you hear of any such gigs please pass that information along to me.

Sometime ago I read about The Intention Process. It goes by several other names: The Secret, The Law of Attraction, Manifesting. The gist of which is that we create our world by our thoughts, our words, and our actions in that order. Or as the New Testament says in its A.S.K. Formula for Success: “Ask whatsoever you will believing you shall receive…ask and it shall be given, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you.” The thoughts, words, and actions formula goes like this: Make your intentions (What you want not what you don’t want) to God, the Universe, share your vision in your own words out loud to yourself and to others, then take baby steps in the right direction to prime the pump so to speak or show God, the Universe, that you believe what you want will come to you. For the six or so years I have been practicing this process I have found it to work in my life.

Will it work for my intention that I am a writer earning my livelihood at my craft? We shall see. I have been blogging about a year “singing my songs for free” so to speak. Can I find writing assignments that pay?

I could easily write 550 words or more on any subject plus with a little research and aided by spell and grammar check make the piece interesting, informative, and upbeat. I can write poems and songs on commission as well. Want a poem or song written for or about you beloved, I offer my services. Pricing can be negotiated just send me a picture of you beloved and list the ten things you love most about them (Please no body parts listed unless you want an erotic poem). You might also name the occasion or reason for the poem i.e. Birthday, Anniversary, or Just Because he or she is so wonderful. Also if you wish the song written to the melody of your song you might include the title and artist who recorded it.

Lastly, like most of you I have opinions but those opinions will not be reflected in any writing I am commissioned to do unless the customer approves that view point. Much like writing for a newspaper where their editorial policy is the guideline. Again let me know if you hear of contract work for writers or would like a a poem or song written to your specifications.

Someone might ask, “Would you really prostitute your talent like that?” And my answer is: “Absolutely”, for we are all whores and work for money but to give sexual workers the credit they are due what other profession can claim as many “happy endings” shared by client and service provider as they do? I await your assignment with word processor at the ready hoping to please and also increase my own personal wealth.
