Blog 271 – 04.12.2017
With April showers in the construction trades comes the April mud and all the additional problems and delays having to work in it can cause. This morning I looked up just in time to see a beautiful mallard land in a mud puddle near where I was working. I snapped a picture and shared it with a couple of dear friends with the caption “Beauty Even In The Mud.” I immediately wrote that down in my notes file, “Ideas for blogs.” Beauty is all around us and ideas for blogs too.
I heard a black lady In a radio interview being asked about her deteriorating community. She was asked what she saw when she looked down the street and she said, “I see that beautiful tree with the pink flowers.” Though obviously not the answer the reporter was looking for to support his story the interviewer had to admit, “It was a lovely tree.” There are glimpses of heaven all around us, echoes, and brief reflections of Beauty behind the scenes trying to peak through the veil, the mud. In the ancient creation story man was fashioned out of the mud and the Creator breathed into that creation the breath of life.
Life is spirit or breath and we can measure this adventure in Time and Space not only by our heart beats but also by the breaths we take. Meditation I am told is simply focusing on staying in the moment and one of the best ways to do that is to focus on your breathing. When we stress we hold our breath. Breathe and breathe deeply and don’t worry about getting a little mud on you for there is truly beauty even in the mud.
