Milestones and Gravestones

Blog 251 – 03.16.2016

Today marks the passing of two hundred a fifty blogs I have posted at my web domain:

If you are curious as to what kind or writer I am, I encourage you to start with blog number one, written almost a year ago and read everyone. I try to be entertaining, thought provoking, and encouraging. If there is any subject you would like me to write about I will give it a go. I would, like most aspiring writers, like to one day be paid to write. I write for myself mostly now but I do try to think of something worth your while. I realize there is way too much to read everything and that for a lot of people these days 500 words is like a novel was to my generation. I love writing and hope it shows.

Last week three people I knew well left this life. That is one of the great disadvantages of living longer – you have to watch so many others leave. It must be very difficult to out live all your family and friends. Several years ago I heard a happy over one hundred year old man say that the secret to living a long life and a having a happy life was to be continually making new and younger friends so that you never run out of friends.

Milestones and gravestones have at least one thing in common. They mark the passing of miles and people along our journey. And life is a journey, my friends and fellow travelers. Often we are so caught up in the drama that we may not know where we are or where we are going but like it or not we all have an appointment similar to my three friends who went through a door last week.

What awaits us on the other side of that door if anything is a subject of wide speculation. I have a suspicion that the journey continues or I’d like to think so.

Your friend and fellow traveler,
David White
