It is so easy in life to get “hung up” over some tragic happening like the loss of a child or parent. But life as they say is for the living. This is your dream and you can make it a sweet one or a nightmare depending upon how you choose to react to what you are dealt. Morgan Freeman in the movie I mention in today’s poem says to the father who is “hung up” by the loss of his only son, “Most everyone thinks they have been dealt a bad hand from time to time but life is what you make it.” or words to that effect. I believe that everything that comes to us is a gift from the Universe and that we are loved. Granted some of those gifts are not immediately apparent and some are lessons that seems so hard we cannot endure them but we are promised that we will not be asked to endure more than we are capable. What do you say, let’s finish it, this wonderful life we have been given. I quote Ole Blue Eyes often, “I pick myself up and get back in the race. That’s life.”
Unfinished Lives

JoJo’s life was cut short
Still so hard to believe
Seemingly over before it really began
And so we continue to grieve.
My daughter Emily passed last July.
Though she had twice as many years
Her life still seemed so short
And I cried many tears.
What would they tell us?
What would they want us to know,
If we could hear their voices once more
Our beloved Emily and JoJo?
A favorite movie Unfinished Life
About a man who lost his son
For years he could not accept it.
His boy had been so very young.
The Indigo Girls sing
“So much promise and work left undone.”
And so it always seems
When lives are lost barely begun.
We long to bring them back
But that is beyond our powers.
They would tells us the truly unfinished lives
Are not theirs but ours.
