Heaven Is Happy To Have Her Home

Blog 225 – 02.08.2016

Several years ago I had to say “see you later” to the only grandmother I ever knew. We called her Lily because that is what my mama always called her stepmother. She was a grand lady and for as long as I could remember she was always nearby and a loving force in my life and the lives of so many. I hope this poem is a comfort and encouragement to the many who miss Lily or some other beautiful flower that was a beautiful presence in their own lives. We shall see them again and in a better more beautiful light. See you later Lily all you lovelies.

Heaven Is Happy To Have Her Home

Our lives are all made lovelier
By the life and presence of our Lily
We are so grateful in the scheme of things
She caught the eye and the heart of Willie.

Today we say our fond farewells
Not tearful good-byes but tender see you laters
Remembering with love the laughter at her table
That made a feast of biscuits, beans, and taters.

Lily was so much more than a pretty face

Still hands down she had that
Like a queen holding court, entertaining us all
And charming us where ever she sat.

Now she plays to a bigger room
Charming and enchanting a much larger crowd
Though it saddens us to see her go
Heaven is happy to have her home and laughing out loud.

See you later, Lily, no tears from me only bubbles. – Your loving
grandson David (at which point I took a small bottle of wedding blow
bubbles and blew a stream for Lily. It was to me a party celebrating her
life and her Bon Voyage to a better and brighter Home.)
