Without A Vision The People Perish

Blog 217 – 01.27.2016

The often quoted Scripture has been used to launch countless sermons but hopefully I can give it a new twist. You have probably heard the expression, “If you don’t know where you are going how will you know when you have arrived?” Without a destination in mind and punched into the GPS we are actually in a state of paralysis, frozen. Goals come from a vision, a looking out into the future and seeing something we want. It is important to set goals, say intentions, have something to look forward to.

I am convinced that the prime cause for alcohol and drug abuse in the United States is not that people are in so much pain that they are self medicating but that people are bored with nothing better to look forward to, no big goal or big dream to pursue. The pursuit of happiness spoken of in the Constitution as one of our inalienable rights granted us by our Creator is not talking about the right to get “high” or “low” chemically but about the very real thrill of envisioning a dream or desire and pursuing it. Happiness is not, at least it doesn’t have to be, an elusive, unattainable, butterfly.
Another favorite Scripture comes to mind,
“Ask whatsoever you will, believing, you shall receive it.” That sounds like a belief in magic but it is really just a Universal Law at work. When you make up your mind about what you really want and make that request to the Universe, believing that the Universe, is ready, willing, and able to grant that request, it is a done deal, that only you can undo. The wheels are set in motion, ducks are lined up, the whole power and resources of the Universe are brought to bear to grant you request. For no other reason than that you asked believing. Oh, sure you might be asked to take a step or two like going the Post Office or UPS or maybe just to the front door of your house to receive your package.

It is your vision of the future that will come true for you. It is up to each of us to in the words of the The Ninth Intention of The Ten Intentions For A Better World:

“The Ninth Intent – Share Your Vision

I create my ideal world by envisioning it and telling others about it. I share my vision.”
